No, that is fiction.

FACT...We have Bush to thank for "No Child Left Behind" which proliferated the dumbing down process. Also, one should note that brother Neil Bush made a fortune by jumping on the bandwagon.

You mean the NCLB act that was passed in Congress with overwelming bipartisan support?

But, but it's Bush's fault.

Nice try but George Bush isn't micromanaging every public school out there. The liberal teachers and administrators are wihth the unions pulling their strings.

Techer wasn't too fed up, he retired (i..e benefits) and wants to substitute teach

Crazy teachers are becoming an epidemic with the all the new up coming indoctrinated socialists. I know a few and I'm surprised they even can do math themselves, they are so far gone, critical thinking is a foreign concept to them, it's all about hive mentality and the collective borg.

Micromanage? Nope, Bush initiates ****ed-up policies and then leaves his mess behind...as usual. He was in charge long enough to promote policies that enriched his family.

I don't care what support it received...it failed and the link I posted even showed that an advocate for it then, admits now that it failed.

You made a nonsensical and rhetorical statement about "Liberal" policies being at the root of a failing school system. I merely pointed out the nonsense in that claim.
Why don't you get more specific when you blame "Liberals"?

Quote from the teacher that leaped out at me:

I now find that this approach to my profession is not only devalued, but denigrated and perhaps, in some quarters despised.

This thread, of course, is Exhibit A.

After reading this, one wonders why would anyone want to teach your bratty rotten kids who their parents have taught to despise teachers and look down on them. No doubt your kids prefer to spend their time shooting things and think learning math and evolution instead of Invisible Sky God is worthless.

My daughter passionately wants to be a teacher and is a junior in college studying for exactly that. I worry every day about parents like the dumbed-down, ignorance-worshipping cretins on this board who blame everything they hate -- which is everything, actually -- on teachers.

He (my uncle) was considered a "right wing nut job" because he was a decorated 101st Airborne Ranger who served in Vietnam. In fact, the guy is very middle of the road politically and calm. However, he said he had to "edit" his social studies texts, as they were full of revisionist history and outright lies. His students loved him; he has several flags from Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan that flew over camps sent to him by former students. Teachers like this are essentially gone.

The only hope for real education in America is home schooling and the parochial system. However, even in the parochial system, there are left wing loons. I had to call one of the high school teachers and ask him not to present "global warming" and "the dangers of fracking" as "fact" in his curriculum! Given my academic past and publication record, he could not claim the bridle of "science" as a justification for presenting his unproven, left wing opinion. At least in that system, we have the power to muzzle idiots and have them stick to education and scientific fact, not leftist opionion.
No one gives a damn your "uncle" served in the military the fact that he took it upon himself to change what was written in text books to his students is a disgrace and the fact that you seem to be proud of him is rather disgusting. You and the rest of your mindless band of merry fools are what is wrong with this country. What exactly did your right wing wacko of an uncle "change" in the texts ? Would it have been fine with you if he considered george washington a terrorist ? How about Able Lincoln as the worst person ever? Would you have even cared if he decided to rewrite WW2 and considered the nazis as real patriots ? The fact that you seem to think it's ok that he decided to change what he thought was "revisionist history" is rather pathetic. Home schooling is a joke and is limited by what the parents know and can teach properly, also by keeping your kid home he/she ends up lacking the ability to work as a team member and develop friendships that could last a long time.

Homeschooling is a disservice to students, and parochial School ?? I guess if you have the money and have no problem with sending your kid to a school where one of the classes would be bible/torah study I suppose that would be fine. But then again if I had kids I wouldn't want to send them to a school related to a corrupt religion that hides pederasts and promotes them to positions of power.

I hope you saved some room for hate because the new program RTT (Race to the Top) fully places the blame for failing students on the teachers and makes that part of their performance rating.

Of course, even bigger liberals are in charge of the public education systems of Finland, South Korean, Japan, Australia, China...
We actually have one of the most conservative education systems in the world, almost certainly the most conservative of any first world country.
