nearly everyone agrees that statement is false. the WH did send a delegation consisting of schultz, baker, susman and stephenson. you, butkus, are the one conflicting opinion. you believe that obama merely asked them ( and most likely the state department picked up the tab for travel expenses ) but did not send them.

Send someone he has control over as a representative of HIS administration. Are you kidding? That is how HE would send someone. Not ask Baker and Schultz to go and he will , WE will pick up the tab.
Let's go at this another way. What if Baker and Schultz did not want to go? They are under no obligation to go. Obama can only 'send' those he has the authority to send.
And, seriously, if the funeral was such a huge deal, and if Bush Sr. couldn't attend because of his age and health, why couldn't Junior have attended as a representative of his father?

Someone from our country should be there, regardless of what side of the fence they happen to be on. Politics shouldn't even come into play here. And, yes, because Barry occupies the position of President, he ought to, at least, go. Thatcher was a great leader and citizen (and a human being) and deserves the proper respect from Britain's allies.
