Contrary to what I believe is the untruthful discussion title, and inaccurate later assertions ... the President has appointed a delegation to represent the United States at the funeral/memorial for private citizen Margaret Thatcher. Surprising to me, he's asked Reagan-era senior government officials to lead the delegation.
Nothing would stop any of the former U.S. Presidents, Republican or Democrat, from attending on their own. Or leaders of the U.S. Congress, or the U.S. Supreme Court. I note that not one will attend ... if published reports accurately disclose the plans for the event.
Margaret Thatcher was a polarizing figure in the UK ... and remains so today ... and she was not someone the current President had a head of state, or other, relationship with.
Someone from our country should be there, regardless of what side of the fence they happen to be on. Politics shouldn't even come into play here. And, yes, because Barry occupies the position of President, he ought to, at least, go. Thatcher was a great leader and citizen (and a human being) and deserves the proper respect from Britain's allies.
Huh? From what I'm reading there are alot of Brits that did not care for her. I don't understand your logic. Why should a president whose policies that are directly opposite of someone who was in office and was pushed out before he was even in politics make an effort to attend her funeral? If anything someone who shared her beliefs or had a personal relationship with her should go on their own dime.
Took away the other words of your post so then the other readers don't misunderstand my response.
It sure looks like that on many occasions especially when he bypasses congress when they're supposed to be involved and does things on his own via executive order.
Why even have a congress then, correct?
Because they are about as useful as a busted condom in a room full virgins with chasity belts
my views have remained consistent thru this thread. please point out what i've posted that is exclusively a left viewpoint.
Why do you need to hide behind others under the heading of 'exclusivity'? Just because those that may be on the right agree with you does not address my point about 'indies'. At least the righties do not claim to be 'indies'.
Your lefty posts in this thread as you claim to be 'indie'.........

A collection of dodges, hiding behind other posters and playing 'but Bush'.
can palin just watch the funeral from alaska. i am sure she can see the procession from her rooftop
Palin never said that she could see Russia from her House. I am no Palin fan, but funny how the left has to make make stuff up and pretend to care about Bush mispronouncing a few words when they ignore Obama's mispronunciations and Biden's a "gaffe a week".

This illustrates the difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives do not hate their rivals and they would show their respect properly.
