Not even a week ago I was watching the more liberal news outlets and listening to the various talking heads cry in their beer about how that evil terrorist organization known as the NRA has once again triumphed over the will of the American people and again, got their way. Now, since yesterdays vote, which only permits the debate on guns to be conducted in a more formal way, many outlets are declaring it some kind of victory, and proudly proclaiming that "opinions in the senate are changing"......

Quote:

The Senate's dramatic filibuster-busting vote Thursday to move forward on a gun-safety bill is being cast as a historic breakthrough,
Historic breakthrough? Lol, really? All it does is allow debate to proceed.

Quote:

testing the strength of the gun lobby and opening a door to the first major gun-control law since 1994.
Was that a joke?

Quote:
While the process is daunting, gun control supporters say they're encouraged by their momentum
Momentum? Seriously? With what we are talking about now, compared to the broad and sweeping agenda liberals had not two months ago, I'dcompare your "momentum" to that of a car smashing in to a brick wall.

Quote:
"Minds are changing. Voices are piercing that conventional wisdom."
Nothing like a bit of mental masturbation to cap off the day, senator Blumenthol

I really don't understand why people are so fixated on what happens to this issue of guns in the Senate because even IF everything liberals want makes it through the senate, it still has to mae it through the House, and that ladies and gentleman, is a whole other maguilla.

President Obama and his liberal friends agenda on guns has been gutted and beaten, if you consider this a victory liberals, well then, good for you. Congrats!

Senate girds for long slog on gun bill

It's amusing to watch.

They talk and talk and put victims in the limelight and liberals swoon. Nothing will change but liberals aren't smart enough to figure that out.

They seem to be under the impression that if it passes the senate, it somehow becomes law....Sheeesh.

Personally I don't care if the Background check compromise passes. It isn't a half bad idea.

The Anti-Gun Crowd Has Lost..... But You Wouldn't Know It

So why are so many gun nuts paranoid that the liberals will take away their guns

The morons in the US Senate just voted to debate a bill that essentially does not exist, since no one has publicly seen it yet.

This new trend in our government to do things in secret, behind closed doors, and then quickly ram bills thru the process before the people have a chance to read or debate it, is very disturbing. This new era of "we need to pass it, to see what's in it" is nothing short of democratic tyranny.

What happened to federalism? Just another reason we should repeal the 17th amendment.

Besides -- the black market gun dealers who could be one in the same as the drug dealers aren't going to require background checks and no laws matter to them.

I imagine those gun owners that have vey little understanding of how the legislative process works may be paranoid, but that's about it.

It's the IDEA that has to be passed. Once the IDEA is passed they will all forget about it and go on with their lives.

Except that you have not read it yet, so how can you say " it isn't a half bad idea?"
