But in reality, corporations in the U.S. pay an average rate of around 19.9 %, and many large corporations like Exxon and GE pay zero federal taxes because of loopholes.
Bush did this for one-year. I believe the rate was around 5 %. Microsoft alone brought back something like $150 billion (which shows how much they are sheltering.) But it's a one-time fix, not a solution.
The loophole needs to be closed.
Would we lose companies if we did?
Coke gets taxed by France for its profits in France...then the US taxes the profits in France a second time - even if that money never enters the US?!?!
I don't understand how you can be FOR offshoring jobs, importing workers and AGAINST minimum wages, collective bargaining and be surprised that the result is an America where the majority are affected by stagnating wages, and less disposable income.
So are Conservatives being deceptive when they complain about the conditions they asked for? Are they too obtuse to see the cause & effect relationship of their agenda? Or are they serious when they blame Democrats for Republican actions?
There should be no minimum wage. People should be paid what the market says they are worth.
That's not deceptive. That's the facts. We don't need government telling business what to pay people.
So? Their 2011 tax rates were similar. (although, I don't think companies should get special breaks)
If GE is getting billions in tax breaks this makes it more difficult for their competitor to be competive while it allows GE to create record profits.. (Note the tread topic)
If a corporation's profits are because of it foreign explots, and we [the American people] shovel billions in taxpayer's money to prop up these nation's economies, then would'nt the natural progression be that we tax some of those overseas profits to put some of our money back into the foreign aid coffers?

You lie.
Exxon paid $31 billion in taxes two years in a row.
