Wait till he uses his personal army the NYPD to start issuing tickets to people drinking 20 ounce sodas in public. He will figure out a way to pass legislature and squeeze out revenue from the citizens who just want to drink a Coke. The cops will be pressured to issue the tickets and where do you think most of the tickets will be written? Where the bulk of these products are sold in middle class or poorer neighborhoods. The new language for Stop Question and Frisk will include being in possession of a 20oz. soda.
Why not ban buffets, a place where someone can sit down and easily consume more than 10,000 calories? What about ice cream shops, who sell nothing but empty calories? And why should anyone need anything larger than a medium pizza? Let's ban that too.
It is NO BUSINESS of the government to tell me how much of a legal product I have the right to consume. It's interesting that many who argue we should be able to do what we want with our own bodies, don't extend that freedom to our choices in food.

Actually, there is no law concerning the POSSESSION or CONSUMPTION of a large soda. The law specifically prohibits the SALE of such.
In other words, the consumer cannot be ticketed for having one, but the retailer can be ticketed for giving it to that consumer.

When the NYC mayor gets his way with this he will change the laws and go after all the things you wrote about in your post next. Look this is the same man who had the laws changed to allow him to stay in office for a third term AFTER New Yorkers voted for term limits.

The law would get passed quietly under the table similar to the smoking ban. Make the argument that the mere sight of people consuming unhealthy products is dangerous for children to see as they would emulate the behavior and thus be obese. It could be done.
Bloomberg is doing people a great service by lowering the amount of poison people drink. Evantually we need to get down to the source of the obesity problem. All types of sugar.
.
So when are they taking table sugar, brown sugar, and/or confectioner's sugar off the grocery shelves?
No you attack coke for not telling its customers its ingredients purposely makes a person thirst after drinking a coke.
The ingredients are not a secret. HFCS replaced cane sugar years ago.
All you need to do is a little reading.
I had an argument with my sister over Aunt Jemima pancake syrup.
She thinks it's maple syrup. There is NO maple syrup in there, it's HFCS.
Real maple syrup is labled "maple syrup" and costs 2-3x as much.
Cane sugar soda has made a comeback. That's all I buy now.
The taste is vastly different; it's not as sweet and not as thick tasting.
Corn is used to fatten up livestock quickly before slaughter.
Logic tells you it will do the same with humans..fatten them up.
But you won't see the government telling you to stay away from HFCS products.

I just wish they would make classic coca cola with cane sugar again....
yeah, so instead of having a 32 oz coke, you can buy the 20 oz and get a refill, giving you 40. Yeah, that makes so much sense that its cries of stupidity..
Bloomberg is a tyrant and a dictator. Every whim that he gets and thinks it's a good idea, he wants to make it a law, even if it's unconstitutional. He thinks he knows more that everyone else and wants to make you live how he thinks you should. So much for freedom.
