Seriously? On all this? I have never, ever, ever used that word either. Really, well it has been at least a half hour. Seriously you uptight morons, it is just a word.
Well, it's a shame for Paula Dean. She took a hit with the whole diabetes thing - given the very, very fatty nature of her cooking and now this.
It was a deposition and she did have to tell the truth but . . she really does NOT have much of a way with words.
If one grows up the deep, deep south - that word is used a LOT. Not sure about today but 30 years ago - yes. I'm not clear on how often she used the word or how long ago. Almost no one comes out of any deposition looking good.
This is where the people will decide. If enough people complain or turn off the FN channel - then she could come back.
I am so impressed with the Food Network for doing this. This is actually a really good year for putting their money where their mouth is about their values when people say offensive stuff. Rick Ross, Lil Wayne and now Paula Deen all lost endorsements because of stupid statements. Amazing.
They oughta let the damn woman alone. Geez...who cares about what she said a million moons ago. She already apologized, and these idiots in the press are needlessly piling on.
This country needs to grow the hell up for one. I could see if she yelled the N word out recently to someone as an insult...that's one thing. But to pick on her as if she's some raging racist is ridiculous.
BTW...this has NOTHING to do with blacks. We don't own the Food Network, nor were there calls for her to be fired. Ironically, she's actually pretty popular with black people.
I have no use whatsoever for those who hold a grudge over something that happened 20 years ago.
The main reason racism still exists is because of people who won't/can't let go.
It's funny, actually. Sad for them, but funny from my perspective.
Keep listening to that rap music, folks!
Racism exists because black Americans are discriminated against on the basis of race in a fairly systematic manner in America. Look at any statistics and huge racial differences are there in every category. These differences aren't the result of random luck.
I live in Montreal. I don't hear that word up here except in rap songs. People don't use it. I certainly do not, and I've never heard my friends use it.
It's a disgusting word, and I wish no one would use it- white, black, whatever.
