I know who Paula Deen is but tell me, "Who is Rick Ross and Lil Wayne." I don't remember ever hearing those names before.
Crappy rappers. One rapped about slipping drugs in a woman's drink and having sex with her. The other made a joke about Emmett Till. Reebok and Mountain Dew responded by dropping them from endorsement deals.

I am on my phone, please forgive the typos.
Deal. I will forgive your typos if you forgive my grammar. Guess you can tell I don't listen to rappers. On second thought; I don't see any typos.
I would love to see as much outrage over Christian bashing
or the hateful things said about Sahara Palins youngest child
or the nasty things said about women
give me a break
should she have been fired
yes
was what she said wrong
yes
but good grief I have a lot more things I am upset about than Paula Dean
I don't care for Paula Deen (she's hella irritating), but this is a witch hunt, most likely orchestrated in an attempt to extort cash from her by legal means (first by a proposal before a lawsuit was ever filed and then in court). I doubt justice has much to do with the motive for filing.
As for those claiming they never said it, if you live in North America forgive me if I find that claim a bit disingenuous. Actually, even outside of North America. A friend's mother in England used it to describe a couple of boys who stole her son's bike and broke his arm in the process. I remember it because it shocked me when she said angrily said it.
I've heard that word casually tossed around between friends too. I've done it myself. I can't remember the last time I heard it from someone I hang around with or said it myself because uttering racial epithets isn't something we make a habit of doing (and it was a lot more likely to happen when we were young). I rarely curse either, but I'm not going to go so far as to say I never have.
Jay-Z never made a living off the word. That's silly. Yes, he's used it in his lyrics, but his stuff is clever enough that had he never used the word in his lyrics, he would've still made it big.
Otherwise, I agree with you. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, Deen has always been popular with black folks and they're not gonna trip out over something she said years ago.
The only thing worthy of notice here is the crippling and overwhelming pc society we live in today.
This is a textbook example of why things will not end good.
