I don't get it. It seems as if all my liberal friends think Snowden is a criminal who belongs in jail, while all my conservative friends think he's some hero.

What I don't get is that most liberals have praised other people for exposing sensitive information, while the conservatives condemn such action.

Maybe someone can clear this up for me.

I believe in complexity. I guess that makes me a liberal.

It's extremely easy. Snowden exposed "that boy", using a phrase some right-wingers use on here, while liberals hate Snowden because he exposed "their man". That's all that it is. If Romney was president and Snowden exposed Romney, the tables would be completely turned, it would be liberals praising Snowden and conservatives condemning him. BY the way, Snowden exposed things that were already public knowledge, just forgotten about

I am not sure I agree with you on this one, in general most liberals are for information about the government getting out regardless of who the president is. In the case of Snowden, I worry that instead of leaking information, he willingly have information to the Chinese. I don't know if that is true or not, but it is something I would want to find out.

In a bigger picture, one must always remember it isn't the person who is important, it is the information. The government is within their right to charge Snowden with treason, and he should stand trial for it, but you can never take back the information that wad leaked, and that is the important factor. The person who leaked it doesn't matter.

I've been seeing the opposite. It's conservatives calling him a traitor (ie. McCain).

What I have seen has been that people who identify as EITHER liberal or conservative (aka people stuck in the mong cycle) seem to be the dense ones who think he is a "traitor".

People who are actually capable of critical thinking are generally the ones able to recognize that what he has done was not only a "good thing" but extremely important as well.

It's very simple: brute, unprincipled partisanship.

The magnitude of the hypocrisy on both sides is incredible, but it's not a bit difficult to explain.

I see lots of liberals condemning and other praising him and same for conservative. I say he is a traitor but condemn the illegal searches under current supreme court standards of reasonable searches.
