Not that the US looked very hard. When the US conquered Iraq, conquering soldiers didn't look for weapons. Suspect sites were ignored (and later looted for the conventional explosives stored there) while the US made a beeline for the Oil Ministry Building.

One wonders why people would consider long-expired and forgotten chemical weapons to be a threat to the US and the result of the alleged massive WMD programs. Were such people really so scared they actually believe the remains of a few chemical weapons from decades past represented the threat the scum Bush claimed was posed by Iraq, or were they just desperate not to have to admit the Republicans were a bunch of blundering idiots?

How does one know that the weapons are no longer valuable unless you examine them.

p.s. if the chemicals were no longer usable, how did Saddam kill the Kurds with nerve gas?

Why do you all point fingers at each other? The whole "war" thing had nothing to do with WMDs if that was the case we would have invaded North Korea. It also had nothing to do with Saddam killing his own people, or we would have disposed of alot of leaders in Africa. It was all about money! Oil contracts, rebuilding contracts, control of their banks and resources. The neo cons used the face of patriotism to punk the majority of the dumbocrats for fear of seeming unpatriotic to vote for the war and that is if they did not have a hand in the profits that were going to be made. The Bush family are no strangers to profiteering off of war either, see Prescott Bush and WWII

There were only a few banks in the world that were not controlled by the same people that run the federal reserves and they were Banks of Iraq (owned), Bank of Libya (owned), bank of North Korea, and the bank of Iran. Their oil and mineral rights have been bargained for by international corperations how do you think they got got out of chapter 7? The final straw and Saddam's folly was when he decided to trade oil for any other currency but the dollar and establish trading oil with other countries

Iraq's oil was embargoed so no one traded for Saddam's oil legally. The UN allowed them to sell some for medicine and food, but that was abused too.

It's completely ridiculous to confuse "conservatives" with the Republican Party. Conservatism is a set of social values that are generally held by individuals, and implemented in family life and in family oriented communities. Conservatives believe that we would have the strongest possible nation if conservative social values were promoted on a national level. It is notable that conservative social values are not inherently religious, but are frequently promoted through religious doctrine. The GOP and their representatives are a political party that was in the White House when the Irag War was initiated, and who at times sincerely and at times superficially attempt to keep consistent with conservative values to appeal to conservatives so that they can garner votes to stay in power. However, they frequently run afoul of conservative values. The GOP certainly can't be said to be a party that is 'conservative' as its primary political priority. A lot of noise would be removed from the national debate if we kept our semantics straight.

Actually Saddam Hussein did use chemical weapons (which he tested on his own people) and all the evidence at the time stated he did, both the house and even several nations stated he did.

However I am not trying to justify the war, I thought it was a mistake and we should have left a LONG time ago last. But this notion that only Republicans and Bush are to blame is asinine, just as many Democrats were in favour of it too including John Kerry and Hilary Clinton.
