We can't believe anything we are are told or think we see today.
I'll be sure to tell the parents of the dead children. They'll be so relieved.

They were told there was an incident, but no details. They were told to be prepared in lockdown and that it was NOT a drill. Remember that no one knew for hours that it was an isolated nut job who had killed himself.

Imagine what that was like. Six hours in lockdown, not knowing when someone might come for you.

Welcome to America!
I don't have to imagine. I was in a lockdown situation for over 4 hours.
We were not told anything and saw multiple police vehicles outside the school.
And of course almost every student just had to go to the bathroom !
After about 1 hour they became bored and were wandering the room.
There were 4 computers and so they shared and played games.

Never found out why we were in lockdown though..administration didn't tell the teachers.
We speculated about weapons in lockers since several K-9 units were at the school.

And I do believe that the number of school massacres by American nutjobs with readily obtainable guns far outnumber foreign terrorist attacks on schools.

In case you hadn't noticed, most of these drills don't involve bombings, or gas attacks, or flying planes into buildings, or any of the favored weapons of foreign terrorist attacks. They're about American nutjobs with readily obtainable guns.
Because you went on and on about "gun nuts".
You didn't mention terrorists.

Oh they were doing "bomb drills" at the Boston Marathon for terrorist training.

Is your school 15 minutes away from the actual event?

Our kids knew something was happening nearby, which is why everyone expected it could happen to them at any moment.

Welcome to America! Your children are now living with the new normal!

Oh, so you made up something I didn't say because I didn't say it. Got it ... I think.

Anyway, as I said in another post just above, these drills are NOT about foreign terrorists. They're about American terrorists. Period. Which is why I didn't mention foreign terrorists.

We're discussing school drills and children, not LEO practicing what to do ...

Because, based on past experience, that's by far the most likely scenario.

Exactly.

As you said, lone American gun nuts are the new normal in our schools. So we have to bow to the gun lover agenda and teach kids to hide, or shoot back. After all, it's all OUR fault for having "gun free zones," right? Silly us. All this time wasted trying to keep guns out of schools, when we should have been having shooting ranges installed next to our playgrounds!
