Black people are already a part of civilized society. There are no lower standards of behavior for black people.
So then if it is not true why do you need special treatment since you can't do what everyone else can?

And what are those?

I saw a lady on the news recently talking about traveling to Raleigh to demonstrate on "moral' Monday but it is just too difficult for her to get to the local DMV to get a free ID.

One, I'm not a black person.

Two, just like any person, I can be prevented from doing things. Poverty prevents people from going to college. Poverty prevents people from being mobile. Poverty prevents people from getting the best possible healthcare. Just like we live in a society designed for right-handed people, where left-handed people have to overcome challenges, we live in a society designed for middle-class people, and people who don't have the qualities instilled in the middle-class often find that they have to overcome challenges. When a deadline is thrown in, the challenges can be too much to overcome.

Most don't vote in local elections.
They have 3.5 years to get a free ID.
Is that really such a challenge ?

We have 50 million poor people that managed to get themselves to a government office to sign up for SNAP.
We have 13 million poor people that found their way to a cell phone retailer to get their lifeline phones.

I'm sure they can get themselves to the DMV for that free ID as well.

And no one seems to be worried about how these poor people will get themselves to an Obamacare exchange to sign up.
They will need ID for that and that happens in another month.

I think it can be such a challenge. Voting isn't life or death. Food is. Healthcare is. And yet we want every American citizen to be able to vote, don't we? We aren't trying to make it more difficult for American citizens to vote, are we? But if we make it more difficult, the people we make it more difficult for are people in poverty. That's just a simple fact. When we make things more difficult in our middle-class oriented society, the wealthy have resources to get around those challenges. The people who live in poverty don't. That's what poverty is, a lack of resources.

It just serves to further divide America.

Now it's the Dems that don't want "old White guys".

I'm not a Dem but Doggett is a pretty solid rep. He's consistent and does his best to represent his district.
He's not one that I'd throw under the bus. Now Sheila Jackson Lee is another story..

I'm so glad Doggett is no longer my rep. He would never return calls or e-mails. Not even his staff.
After redistricting, Lamar Smith is now my rep and he himself has answered the phone when I have called.
Same for my new Senator, Ted Cruz. Even Cornyn sends back a letter to my e-mails. and so did Kay Bailey.

And some people just like to complain and make excuses.

Yes we want every American citizen to be able to vote in their district where they should vote; but only one time is the rule. Some people have admitted to voting in more than one state with same day registration and early voting. Changes in rules and an ID will HELP prevent this.

ID won't prevent it. The person who votes in more than one state is registered in more than one state. How will ID prevent them from voting in both areas? You don't think they have ID for both places?

Why is the DOJ only worried about the Black people in poverty ?
