Police close off east Fort Collins neighborhood to serve warrant | 9news.com

Quote:
Two SWAT teams were deployed and an entire neighborhood in Ft. Collins, Colorado was shut down for four hours to search for a man suspected of stealing a bicycle and a grocery cart full of merchandise from Wal-Mart.

A sheriff’s deputy on scene said the SWAT teams were searching for a robbery suspect who had been tracked to the area. The suspect tried to steal a shopping cart filled with tools and a bike from a Walmart earlier in the day.

He had fought with staff members and fled in a car with other suspects inside. Police reviewed surveillance video and recognized the man. Police say the suspect has a criminal history. In conclusion, no suspect was apprehended during the four hours the SWAT teams terrorize the neighborhood. However they did manage to capture a large dog by securing it in the Humane Society van.
So much for the excuse that the SWAT Team is used only for heavily armed gangs and drug dealers.
Sounds like they are testing the waters to see how much they can get away with, by shutting down our neighborhoods and crapping on our freedoms and rights.

You know this stuff is so over the top. You really have to wonder if that is why they were really there.

Yes the new police force is completely out of control. We give up our guns we are doomed to go down like other countries. Nobody thought Hitler would become a tyrant back in the day. Hell he was a high school dropout. Well at least he didn't frequent the male brotherls like Obama does.

A little bit of humor here from my days I played Quake.
Some of these goons would fit right in with a Quake Grunt:

"Goons with probes inserted into their pleasure centers; wired up so when they kill someone, they get paroxysms of ecstasy. In essence, customized serial killers. Easy to kill, and they tote shotgun shells. It's like a little Christmas each time you blow a Grunt away!"

"Police say the suspect has a criminal history, including use of a weapon."

What kind of criminal history? Armed robbery? Murder? Perhaps their use of force was proper, but who the heck would know with that kind of crappy reporting.

I would like to know as well...

But from the story, they recognized the suspect, so what happened to common police investigation and tracking a wanted person, rather than calling out 2 full SWAT Teams to shut down a whole neighborhood with 0 results?
