Awesome, at 107 that's the way to go out, but they could have waited for him to fall asleep. Feisty old coot - he was the suspect in an aggravated assault.

Whatever happened to talking, and negotiating? Like you said, time was on the side of the police, they could have waited it out, since no one's life was in danger.

I ain't buying what this team is selling, and CNN writes a crappy story with all kinds of holes, but runs with it anyway. How is it that there are two victims of aggravated assault by a man of 107? On top of that all other efforts fail? BS

After unsuccessful negotiations, officers slipped gas into the room through a window, he said, and Isadore fired rounds at them.
The officers broke the bedroom door and hurled in a distraction device, and Isadore fired at them again, according to the spokesman's statement.

It's unclear what distraction device was used. No more information was immediately available. CNN called the police department, but could not reach anyone.

All news sources are giving the same limited details. More info will come out later. I suspect the victims were caregivers or relatives and "aggravated assault" could be hitting or throwing his prune juice.

At 107 the wait couldn't be all that long? I can't think of a single reason that would have justified breaching the bedroom. No one else was in danger and he wasn't going anywhere.'

They should have just snuck a warm glass of milk into the room and waited a few minutes.

Young, old, disabled. Doesn't matter. With 170000+ agencies and no real tracking or accountability, truly amazing.

How in heaven's name can't a bunch of highly trained and physically fit officers not out-wait a 107 year old man...?

Why the **** do we even need a professional police force when they act in the most unproffesional and idiotic ways?

Might as well have a bunch of George Zimmermans running around doling out justice.
