If you include SNAP benefits as welfare, then most welfare recipients are not people who "sits on the porch or does drugs". Put the 12 gauge down, simmer down, and read a book or some statistics.

I thought it wreaked truth. It even reeks of the truth. If you wanna call truth, ignorance, that's your call. I think it's a weird way to call it, but it's all yours. And yes, I think we should defend our soldiers. You won't believe how many idiots here think that everyone on welfare is a dead beat and should get a job. They have jobs. They just don't make enough to survive.

What do you say to people who are working 10-12 hours a day from 2 jobs and supporting two kids yet still qualify for EIC and Snap. Are they leaches but the military is ok?? Can someone out there answer that.

I'll let you in on a little secret, since you seem to be fact challenged. There aren't a lot of good jobs out there, and much of what there is are minimum wage service jobs. People take those jobs not because they love to work for peanuts, but because they need a job and they want to work. Many of them cobble together a few jobs just to survive.

Ever try to live on minimum wage? Feed your family? Didn't think so. But I bet you're happy when one of those "deadbeats leeches" waits on you in a store or a restaurant or customer service, right?

They are the working poor, and they probably work harder than you do. I have no problem with my tax dollars being used to make sure they don't go hungry.

No, ignorance is labeling everyone that takes assistance as leeches, even after other explain that many, most, that get it are nothing of the sort. Are there people abusing it, sure, they should be identified and removed, but the vast majority only take it for a short period of time then drop off it.

I'm actually a little more grumpy about the military using food stamps than I am some IQ of 70 who doesn't know any better. If you're in the military - you do know better.. The same points apply. Don't have kids you don't can't afford. If you can't afford the kids you already have, then the wife or husband still at home needs to go back to work. I have no problem offering childcare assistance in that situation, but not a handout.

That's weird, because the guys I saw getting food stamps while I was in the Army were getting them under the Reagan administration.

I'm gonna use the same excuse liberals use: $100 million "is a drop in the bucket" in the grand scheme of the program.

That's the very excuse they use when we fiscal conservatives complain about $750M of annual food stamp fraud, waste, and, abuse. "It's just a drop in the bucket."

As they say ...."No reason to be concerned."
