I hope you can recognize how absurd those slippery slope arguments are.

Yes, they could say you were caught speeding. Now give me all your guns. You can't have them. You broke the law.

Nobody is arguing this.

Mental illness is not random, it's determined by experianced medical professionals.
It is the single most subjective "practice" in the whole of the nation. But, that's not making this ok.

Quote:
The regulations vary from state by state, but all require a propesnity for violence and commission to a mental facility. California also requires court oversight of the process. It's not flipping a coin.
Flipping coins is not the issue. What is the issue?

Quote:
Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Quote:
Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
What we have a problem with, is that both the 4th and 5th Amendment are CLEARLY being violated here.

If you know of another way of determaning mental illness...I would like to hear it.
Don't insult people with straw man arguments.

Quote:
You are just pushing a catch-22. Scream about how no new gun laws (or changes to gun laws) should be in effect because there are laws on the book that are not enforced. However, when those laws are enforced you scream they shouldn't be enforced because you don't like them.
This is STILL a straw man argument. Would it be too difficult to be honest? Or would you simply have to admit the truth all the time and it doesn't really ** work ** for you?

Isn't Kali a Hindu god?

Shouldn't this be in the Religion forum?
