Using that logic, it would make perfect sense to put nuclear warheads in space in case the Earth is ever attacked by extraterrestrials. I mean, if we put nukes in space and they attack, yay! we save the world.
Only if you're in the habit of comparing apples to... porcupines.

The situations aren't comparable in any case. Putting nuclear weapons in orbit is simple and quick compared to deliberately altering the Earth's climate; in other words, if aliens came we could respond a lot more quickly than we could to global climate change. I have confidence that with prudence and preparedness humans can adapt to most any climate shift that is likely to arise, but even so that takes a lot more time than launching a bunch of rockets into orbit.
You know, I don't really read anything about global warming because it's just common sense to me. No cult, just common sense. What man puts into the air, water and dirt affects our planet. So why do you need proof. Man has done great harm to the earth and will continue to do so because some are too arrogant to care.
When it comes down to it, there's global warming and then global cooling. Earth has been through ice ages and it has had heat waves. It happens, there's no conspiracy. Sure, a lot of technology has added to the pollution in the world but there's also climate changes that us humans haven't contributed too. It's just the way of the world, the motions of the Earth.
When politicians like Al Gore make this whole global warming a fiasco, it makes me want to kick them in the throat.
Hmmm... water is also 19th century. Are you ready to quit using water to avoid exposing your 19th century mindset?
Ever since I saw, Dr. Strangelove back in the 60s I have never drank anything but pure Russian Vodka. Those Commies have polluted everything else and I have to keep my essences pure!
If you want to get technical that car would not be possible without coal, at least as far as the cost goes. Matter of fact every man made made object in one shape or form is made possible with coal and other fossil fuels. If you take something as simple as concrete coal provides the heat to make cement and coal ash is also used as ingredient to strengthen it. We only need concrete to build homes, sidewalks, schools, roads, bridges, airports, industries, stores, etc.

To paraphrase that Asian scientist who is often on those space shows ".. if aliens were to arrive and they are hostile it's going to be like Bambi vs. Godzilla"
The IPCC report sounds more accurate to me because it is backed by science. What backs your silly Forbes opinion poll up? That they polled engineers? Awesome. I'm an engineer and I think denialists are clowns.
Can't possibly be bigger clowns than Al Gore.
