It's not temp help. Seriously? You do know the numbers are seasonally adjusted to account for that. Lord knows, we have been suffering with this economy for years. This is good news for the country and it is backed up by many other lagging and leading indicators of economic progress You conservatives are a real piece of work. Your hatred for Obama has completely eclipsed your common sense.

It's an easy number to manipulate, but a very difficult number to verify.
UE is mainly used to track changes over time

so what they're measuring is stupid, but as long as they keep measuring it the same way, you can draw some conclusions from it.

Some numbers are easily verified. A $5 thermometer will tell you that your local weatherman is right, and a trip to your bank will verify that the posted mortgage rates are correct.

Some numbers carry political capital, and those numbers are not that easy to determine. It's like those people who believe that the stock market is an accurate reflection of the economy -- yet refuse to believe that the QE spending has anything to do with the success of the market.
If I recall correctly, when the UE numbers were released in November just before Obama's re-election, wasn't California omitted by "accident", which helped to lower the number of jobless claims? I don't think there was ever a correction to reflect that omission.

I don't understand how people see that the majority of jobs being "created" are holiday part-time. The same way they don't understand that QE is a band aid. When they rip that band aid off that cut is going to bleed.

Their hatred of Obama has eclipsed their purported love of their country. How else can you explain the glee and pure joy with which Conservatives on this board cheer bad news and the complete derision with which they dismiss good news? All the while claiming they are the party of true patriots.

Default US Unemployment Falls to 7 Pct. on 203K Jobs Added

This is great news, unemployment at a 5 year low, long ways to go but very positive indicator.

Quote:

A fourth straight month of solid hiring cut the U.S. unemployment rate in
November to a five-year low of 7 percent. The surprisingly robust job gain
suggested that the economy may have begun to accelerate.

It also fueled speculation that the Federal Reserve
will scale back its economic stimulus when it meets later this month.

Employers added 203,000 jobs last month after adding
200,000 in October, the Labor Department said Friday. November's job gain helped
lower the unemployment rate from 7.3 percent in October.

There used to be a poster on the forum named "delusianne" who spent lots of effort trying to convince us that government data is objective and unbiased....a straight reading of the numbers......and should be relied on. She was called on the farce regularly, but she dearly believed it.
