The guy that shot him was 71 years, old. He had a full life, a family, etc. The guy he shot was much younger but hell bent on ignoring the old guy. My question is... Was it really worth it to be a jerk and have your phone out? No. Who won? It sure wasn't the younger guy.

The dead guy lost and the scum that murdered him won. Hip Hip Hooray!
Question from a hand gun free country.
I take this ex cop who executed a bloke for texting will be getting bail.
Any reason why the wounded wife cannot shoot him in the head under the so called stand your ground law ?

If the wife were packin she would have been well within her rights to shoot the old dude right between the eyes...she was just not lucky enough to have not broought her equalizer with her. Maybe she incorrectly had believed going to the movies and her husband texting would cause some gun nut to go off. Big mistake.
You really can't blame the old gun nut. With all the stories of other gun nuts shooting up movie theaters, who could blame him for not wanting to be prepared. Never gonna know these days when a gun nut shoots up a movie theater.

A better question is this. Was being annoyed by a cellphone worth shooting someone over? Why not have the guy kicked out of the movie theater?
Ex cop and a captain at that, so he was likely having people do what he told them and being respected. When he no longer got that respect and no longer had the authority to punish people, he snapped.
Texting, talking on a cell phone during a movie, excessive talking, listening to an IPOD, playing a game on your cell phone, that's juvenile nitwittery, though. Arguing and getting violent seems to being increasing. I blame the crap we're eating as well as a general decline in societal values.
I dont see how some one texting in a movie theater is a bother to anyone as texting is a silent action..
