Also, has anyone brought up in this thread that Sterling was slated to be honored by the NAACP for a lifetime achievement award?
How is that possible when it was apparently well known that he had racist views based on the aforementioned civil case against him?
Yes, that was mentioned and is well known. The reason? The NAACP is just like any other organization. $$$$$ Talks. He gave a lot of money, the NAACP spokewoman even admitted that was why they were "honoring" Mr. Tokowitz.
Many bad views and vibes about race are coming out of this...
"The new N word is 'Black' now - you can't say 'black' because you might upset them.
You can't even say it at home, in private.
If you are black, oops forgive me I said the word, you can say whatever you want (e.g. whitey, cracka, white boy, pig skin, pale face devil, pink , pick face, etc.) and nothing will happen to you.
If you have a job, and you are person of color, you can kick-back and do nothing, and nothing will happen - threatening to play the race card.
If you are people of color you can shake down companies, for cash - threatening to play the race card."
I have to believe that his past deeds were factored into the punishment. The taped conversation by itself, I doubt, would warrant what happened today.
Starlings' deeds could no longer be contained. This was the perfect opportunity and time to drop the hammer on this guy.
I totally agree. The NBA had no option to take a different path. In a league where the overwhelming number of players are black, where a large majority of the audience is black, to just wrist slap the man would have done serious damage to the NBA brand.
The NBA has taken a stand and maintained it's integrity in the process. The NBA will not tolerate any racism of any sort from the highest level of ownership, to the lowest level of bench warmer. They've made that very clear. Of course Sterling will sue, but that will take place in the courts of justice and not on the basketball court.
In the court of public opinion, the public won this round. I consider this a great victory for social justice and a reaffirmation that our society has moved forward over the last 75 years to a place where open, outright racism is no longer tolerated no matter what one's standing is in society.
Of course there are still racists but they have been put on notice, "Put a sock in it or get ready to pay the price."
No. Sometimes you have to take an unpopular stand to protect our freedoms and rights from the intolerant, political correct and mob rule views that your express.
They all have a price...Chris Paul has a price, Sterlings smut has a price, Magic Johnson has a price, every black American inside the organization, that was close to the Baylor situation and worked for Sterling moving forward, has their price.
Larry Johnson was right....100%!!! Black people need their own infrastructure. Build their own wealth. Build their own power structure. So this way the hard and bitter lesson can be learned all over again. Black people will also eat their own.
Yes. The fact that Reid only thought Obama was electable because he was "light-skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one" is highly offensive, yet NOTHING happened to Reid for making those comments.

He is registered Republican, but he donates to the Democrat Party big time.
