I don't hate people who vote or don't vote. I do detest people who vote party line, or vote for bad incumbents simply because of the party they belong to.

Isn't that their strategy? Disenfranchising women, minorities, and lower income folks?
I have never seen a link to that mandate. Care to share? I have seen opinions about it though.

Why would either a minority or a majority be allowed to decide whether they can steal from you or not and how much? What kind of slavish uncivilized mentality is that?

We're in a smaller district 18,000 13,700 of which are 18+. Not sure of percent registered but our budget was passed with a tally of 3500 votes (or about 24.5 %).

Our budget increase was the lowest in 20 years. Would've rather have seen it go down but it's an improvement nonetheless.

Just saying I'm feelin' ya.

Find it odd that the voting is scheduled while the college aged voters are not home.

What kind of incentives are you talking about? Pass a civics quiz and not only does your vote count but you get a free Big Mac? (have to incentivize those low information voters to climb a few rungs on the information ladder).

I am against "civics quizzes" for voting because they are basically modern day literacy tests. They would almost certainly be used to disinfranchise the same way.

Start by allowing weekend voting and early voting so folks with jobs can have an easier time voting. I used to work as a caterer and there would be days when I worked from 5am-9pm with no advanced warning. If that happens to you on election day w/o early voting you are SOL. I would also make same day registration available so folks who have recently moved would be able to register and vote more easily. I would focus also on reminding folks of special elections and off year elections to boost turnout. I would also support more leniency with provisional ballots if folks go to the wrong precinct by accident.

All of these things would be helpful to incentivize folks to vote.

We should also copy Australia and make election day a paid national holiday with a fine for people who don't bother to vote.
