That's not true. Cities of Chicago and New York were once awashed in blood with no participation from the blacks. Even today, Appalachia is one of the murderous regions.
Dallas, Houston and NYC has virtually the same percentage of blacks, 25%, yet gun controlling New York City has HALF the murder rate of gun-loving Dallas and Houston.

I have never desired to remove all guns from people. I do not believe in the use of a gun for personal self-protection. The police are there for that. If gunned down, the police will do their job, and just maybe the perp will be caught. Maybe not, but so be it IMO. Too many innocent people are killed each year by guns that were purchased for self-protection but turned deadly when drunk, on drugs, spooked, etc

So if you were woken up and surprised in your house and there's a couple of big thugs with weapons ready to attack you and your family - if somehow suddenly a gun appeared next to you; you would rather wait 8-30 minutes for the police to arrive, after something loud enough happens that it alerts your neighbors?
It's simple, private gun ownership is inductive to gun violence which we can experience in the us every other month.
A. It's every day.
B. It's not private gun ownership, it's private gun ownership in the United States past perhaps 1985.
C. Our country will not be able to withstand the normal stresses on nations unless something really drastic changes Washington DC. Federalism will not work if the States have to assume Washingtons duties. And that seems where we are headed.
Just image a Governor who claims he'll ban guns. Half the country would hate him, half would move to his state.

Nobody gets shot in New Jersey? That's fantastic! But there is certainly a lot violent crime. Way to trivialize other victims who died from crimes because they don't allow you to score political points.
At the rate things are going, about half of us will get shot up somewhere like the library or the church.
So perhaps I'm talking way down the road in a year or three. In any case I must confess I get more pessimistic on the USA every year. Not economically, just as a good place to live.
Why aren't those "smart" people flooding into high gun control states now?
