Again, you have not proven that soccer is not a real sport. You have not backed up what you have said, only made more ad hominem statements.

If soccer is not for Americans, then how come so many of my American friends are on facebook talking about how much they like watching the World Cup?

I would rather watch Women's sports than any soccer game.
No, anyone that puts down the athleticism of Soccer or any other sport is someone that was never good at any sport.

Because the USA gets excited about soccer every four years, and has since Italia 90(well maybe not then, but at least since USA 94).

We actually have had a team that has qualified for the last several World Cup's, and it becomes a fad to follow the tournament - both because it is a novelty and because it is unpatriotic to not support your national team.

Watch, the level of interest will spike downward, since the only teams left are from S. America, and Europe, and one Central American team.

Go Costa Rica!!!

It also proves something else. It shows, in my opinion

1) A "tough guy" mentality
2) A lack of honor to just admit to not liking soccer.

Depends on where you are. In the Atlanta area, perhaps. In Seattle, soccer has taken off. Sounders fan here.

Given our behavior as a nation empathy, hard work, intellectual activity and team work aren't American either but bravado, self delusion, greed and jellousy are very American. By the way, The rest of the world doesn't use the term soccer either!!!

Rugby is another very good game to watch, and the RBS six nations when England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy play each other every year is always really entertaining, as is the Rugby World Cup.

Have you ever seen Australian Rules Football or Footy? It combines element from Rugby Union and FIFA Football and uses a ball similar to an American Football. You can advance the ball by kicking it, throwing it, or running with the ball. Defensive players can tackle a ball carrier or strip the ball from a player. And it has the familiar Rugby scrum. Great Game from Down Under.

You can do all those things in American football.

So if the right wingers are about Nascar, I'll gladly stand with the left wingers and soccer. Our own Seattle Sounders sell out every home game. And if you look at the map, no teams in the Southeast. Just...nothing.
