Simple- Teacher's Unions do not want competition to expose how they have decimated the education system in America.

I have no problem with vouchers in some cases, but before we run off and start writing checks we need to fix the problem in our public schools and if that is done fewer people would even be interested in vouchers and sending their children to private schools. Cons used to be proud of themselves for being conservative, beacuse that meant they fixed what was broken and did not just discard something if it was not operating properly, yet here we are with a broken public school system and their answer is to abandon it on the side of the road and go to another system that only serves a select few, that is not how I define a conservative. The answer is to fix the problem, unfortunately that will take effort and money and it seems no one is interested in putting in the effort or money but instead would rather spend our time arguing that any idea but our own is acceptable and in the process nothing gets done. At this rate the US will be headed for third world status in the next 50 years, thank God I will not be here to see it.
Thank you, I wish there were more conservatives like you in this country because you guys seem to be the ones that get it.

In a lot of these cases a student would be able to choose to walk to a school that is getting a C grade, as opposed to the school that is getting a D or F grade.
Non selective public and private school performance tends to reflect the challenges of the local neighborhood.
One is not likely to find a better performing non selective school within walking distance.

If you fix the problems with the schools, the we wouldn't have to waste money on vouchers so parents can flood other schools.

I do agree there should be a teacher's union reform. Teachers needs to be at the high end of the pay scale, not the administrators. We also need to get rid of this standardized testing garbage because that has done nothing good for this country.
