Why not? The Haitians are for it. It would clear up a lot of illegal immigration cases now and free up the Coast Gaurd in Florida to gdevote more resources to going after drug runners. Similarly you'd see a massive influx from the Haiti Territory to the mainland US where former Haitian now American workers would do "the jobs Americans won't do." This would help get Congressional support for stopping illegal immigration from Mexico. And as all the people stuck in Haiti now leave Haiti itself would probably improve since the land, cities, and towns would no longer be so overcrowded. Between that and American investment in a newly stable Haiti the economy in Haiti would actually stand a chance of improving. Within 20 years we could Haitian statehood. Puerto Rico would probably rush to get in before Haiti. Maybe the Dominican Republic would follow shortly after that since the folks could look across the border and see how well their neighbors are doing.

As a card carrying member of the Expansionist Party of the United States, I agree. I support a world government under the Constitution. Let's annex the entire World.

Hatiains are for it. There is a big surprise. Leach off the U.S some more. Just another typical predicament that island was once a nice place and now that is turned back over to the original inhabitants it looks like animals live there. Bout right I guess.

The U.N. should annex Haiti and move there as a permanent home. The U.S. should then require a visa for any U.N. member or Haiti citizen to visit the U.S., without any political immunities.

"The US should annex Haiti"

We've been there, done that which is part of the present problem.

I disagree. Like West Germany annexing the poorer East Germany in 1990, this would cost us too much money. Germany is still paying the costs of reunification 20 years later.

Hows about we start worrying about the folks that live here, and the land and resources we have, instead of worrying about annexing other countries.

No, we shouldn't annex Haiti.

This time we'd be serious about it though. Plenty of couples who end up getting married break up at one time or another. Shoot some folks get remarried after divorcing.
