I think we are headed for a separation. The 2 sides pretty much hate each other. We need to form a blue nation of cities and a red nation of rural counties. The rednecks will control the water, electricity, oil and coal so they will be okay.
Sounds like a plan, let's do this...Though you are gonna have to start cause I have no interest in secession and I am sure most Americans agree with me.
Back in the 1970s and 1980s the News Media would show the states in Red and Blue on Election Night to show which Candidate carried which state. Red and Blue were taken from the Flag and which Party was which was changed each Election. Then in the 1990s the Media got a lot more biased and decided to keep it at Republicans Red and Democrats Blue. They did this because they wanted to give viewers the idea that Democrats were Ture Blue and Noble Blue Bloods while Republicans should be thought of as Ignorant Rednecks Always Angry. Also, since Red was the color otherwise associated with Communism it was an added little salt on a wound they liked irritating Conservatives with. Our friend wants to reverse the colors to what they ought to be with the Socialist-Communist-Progressive-Liberals as Red and Conservative Patriots upholding Traditional Values as Blue. While I agree with what he'd like to do it would cause confusion at this point.
Did you come up with this or is this actually documented? I always thought the colors were related to our flag colors, plus being opposite primary colors. If an independent won a state, I would imagine the color it would be white.
It's always humorous to read the comments from smug blue staters. I live in a Blue state. Currently in the most liberal county in the state nearly half of the students are minority. The county used to have the best schools not only in the state but arguably in the country. The schools are still very good, well the ones that are primarily White and Asian.
Of course this is not acceptable. Two county council members asked the school chief why can't they change the boundaries so more Black and Hispanic kids could attend these schools? After all we all know it's not the students that make a school but the buildings & teachers.
Judging by the reaction from the community you would have thought the council members asked for people to sacrifice their first born. If the most liberal county in one of the most liberal states can't even muster the will to bus students within their borders to achieve diversity or close the gap, why expect others to do so?
People are seriously deluding themselves if they think this country's current standard of living is sustainable with this level of demographic changes. Just because you don't like the messenger does not mean the message is without merit.
Sounds pretty reasonable to me. The notion that this country will maintain the same standard of living while letting in hordes of illiterate peasants from Central America is laughable but hey let's pretend it will work. Don't want to be racist.

That is basically how it works. My ancestors were Irish and Swedish and they were basically treated like second class citizens coming to this country that were gonna take away everyone's jobs. Then of course my ancestors were worried that ending slavery was going to take away their jobs.

Nah America got jacked back when people voted for Bush over Gore and then Bush over Ketchup man. Obama is just the lesser of two evils. McCain obviously failed with his "Nuclear Batteries inside cars, because the Navy have people around Nuclear energy products a lot.

What people like you neglect and what Pat is pointing out is that there was a 40 year period where immigration was practically nil. So we could integrate people. Also the culture was such that it was expected you integrate into the dominant WASP culture as much as possible.
That's not what is occuring today. In fact the opposite is happening. With millions coming each year the immigrant culture is self sustaining there is no need to make anything but surface integration. The once dominating culture is now sneered at with contempt.
This show has been played before and if it continues it will end badly. I wonder if folks know the Chinese are predicting exactly what Pat is saying in their internal reports about the USA?

The odds are better than 50-50 we'll see some kind of armed uprising before Obama is out of office. At this point we're simply waiting for some incident to spark it off. Had there been even one shot fired by either side at the Bundy stand-off that would have been all it would have taken. The country would swiftly fly apart and this Red County / Blue County map of the 2000 Presidential electionis probably the best guide to what the country will look like in a matter of weeks:
Without firing a shot the Rebnecks will have the Liberals broken up, cut off, and surrounded. It will not be necessary to fight a bloody civil war--at least not on the part of the Redneck Militias. All they need to do is set up a few roadblocks. In a week the grocery store shelves will be empty, in two weeks all the food at home will be gone, and by the third week canibalism will set in. The cities will errupt into massive rioting for all of their food comes from Redneck Country. So does all their fuel. The Rednecks need only turn off a few valves and in a week the carbon footprint of the cities will be well-nigh zero and there will be no more traffic jams. You're welcome. Nearly all their electricity is generated in power plants in Redneck Counties. By flipping a few switches the Rednecks will relieve the Liberals of all the guilt brought about by using all that electricity. This means the fan that circulates heating and air conditioning through the building will stop working. Liberal politicians will see the handwriting on the wall and catch a flight out of town while there's still aviation fuel at the airport. Within a month every athiest in the city will be praying earnestly to God that the Redneck Militias please enter the city and restore Law and Order. They'll agree to every demand the Rednecks make: ban Abortion, teach Creationism in the schools--ANYTHING. Liberalism will disappear from American politics for the next three generations.
There's already been "some kind of armed uprising" Two police officers and a guy in a store were shot dead and it didn't end with rednecks winning and liberals losing like in your fantasy. It didn't end with roadblocks or empty store shelves
