For the "driving while black" null hypothesis to be true, there must be conclusive evidence that all people violate traffic laws equally, thus making higher percentages of traffic stops involving black people a meaningful measure.
Do we have such evidence? Do we know that all racial demographics drive equal cars, at equal speeds, in an equal manner/behavior, and all cars in equal states of repair? Without understanding anything about the input data, which is what a highway patrol officer or local traffic cop sees to justify the stop, we have no way of understanding what motivated the officer to initiate the stop.
So until I can see firm evidence that all drivers are equal in every input factor that leads to traffic stops, I'll just reject the null hypothesis on its face for being porrly constructed.
I was pulled over and given a ticket a few weeks back. Those racist cops-I was stopped for Driving While White! Bastages. I bet that a MUCH higher percentage of whites were stopped in my county than blacks. Wacists!
