That is a fantasy, unless you want to cull the population to less than half of what it is.

The only reason most of us exist is because of oil. The population of the Earth was around 1 billion for thousands of years up to the advent of the oil age. Then it exploded to what it is now, something like 7 billion. No way we can support this population without using oil. Oil=easy energy. Nothing we have comes close to oil for everything that we need. Solar, wind and hydro are just window dressing. They are a joke compared to oil.

Lower classes can't afford newer fuel efficient cars. It isn't the end of the world, you were right, they can simply give up breakfast.

I don't see too many people chucking their lives, running out into the wilderness with a cow-in-tow and roughing it. As my husband told a protestor to our construction project one time. "You can shut this pipeline down. It's really quite simple. Turn off your heat. Sell your car. Get rid of your electric. Put a cold-water hand pump well in your house. Go cut firewood. Turn off your TV and computer and read a book. And while your at it.... convince several million of your friends to do the same."

This is what Californians get for having elected a Republican governor.

From your article:

"This time they can blame Sacramento and former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for passing a bill requiring California to reduce carbon emissions to 1990 levels by 2020."

Sure, we must tax people more to force them to ride tax payer subsidized mass transit. Once all their choices are removed and they are forced to do exactly as the bureaucrats wish them to do, their quality of life will go up. It's just common sense.

Uh, ever been to Europe? Their cars aren't running on fairy dust and brie; they use diesel.

A fossil fuel.

Oh, and a ****load of American+British coal for their power plants.
