They also redacted that shots were fired in the woods.

Contain the search area then put up small silent drones flying pre programmed quadrant search sectors with infra red heat detectors programmed to find and identify the heat signature of a human being, 98 F plus or minus environmental effect parameters such as thermal loss due to overnight cold and body temp reduction. Rule out deer and/or other non human targets, zero in and locate the target, identify, eliminate, recover and remove the body.

Who said that was his rifle?
It could be a plant, to assure the public they are on a hot trail, to justify the police state enacted upon the free people, for all we know.

Touche.... but needless to say I couldn't resist.

Fitting though as this whole thing is starting to become Looney Tooney.

I mean come on, the suspect in the Virginia college student abduction case was found days later in Texas. Yet PSP can't find this guy who they believe has not left the area in nearly 2 weeks? Come on now........

this guy is no dummy and has trained well....they've found soiled diapers...he is smart, and knows if he poops in woods, the dog will be able to find the scent from miles away....if he keeps the diapers and discards them at any spot, after he is long gone, well, do that math.
This guy is a terrorist...home grown and trained. Personally, I think he gets some sick satisfaction out of playing with the cops..., he's playing cat and mouse, and he knows those woods very well...I'm surprised he hasn't set booby traps. That is what scares me, and he just might yet, he is some sick dude.

I hope they get him before we see his photo in the stores on the bags of Pampers.

I can see the add campaign now. Pampers are good enough for the rugged backwoods sniper and should work for the little pee shooter in your family too.
