Why not get rid of corporate taxes and watch other corporations expand like this?
...and this is why.

Corporate taxes should be abolished altogether. Tax the shareholders. The government will collect off the new revenue, or businesses will hire more labor.

I'm advocating this as a liberal.

Here's a link to the petition. Pass it on to others who are sick and tired of having these big $$$ guys getting tax exemptions. There is no reason for it;

oh liberal ignorance..

The NFL is a non profit because the NFL passes the refenues onto the teams where the TEAMS ARE TAXED..

Thats why the teams are so valuable, because they receive the revenues and the profits..

Lets quickly deal with the most fallacious aspects of the OP

1. The Tax Exempt status does not extend to the individual teams. Those member teams, pay GOBS of taxes
2. The teams very likely pay MORE in taxes BECAUSE the NFL is tax exempt than they would if it were not.
3. The NFLs tax exempt status is not unlike that of the PGA, or any local community Chamber of Commerse.
4. The NFL does not make money. The TV Contracts, Commercial $$$, ticket sales, concession sales etc all go to the member teams.
5. The NFLs money comes primarily from the member teams paying dues.
6. The NFL as a 501(c)(6) actually has operated at a loss over the last couple of years.

It is not a pointless exercise. It sends a message that rich fat cats shouldn't be treated oh-so-special. What corporation would continue to employee its highly visible employees who commit criminal acts? The NFL and Roger Goodell think they are immune to laws of decency, yet they hold themselves out as role models.

Here's an interesting site regarding players in the NFL and the crimes they commit:

you are not being truthful. The nfl does not pay less taxes because of its 501(c)(6) status.

Yeah...I was about to clarify as well....the NFL itself is tax exempt...but the teams are not. That definitely needs to be clarified if we are to have this convo.

Either way, I still have some issue with an organization so blatantly profitable (and not a charity) not paying into our tax structure. It's hard to reconcile that the NFL is the same as a local chamber of commerce.

Yea, in fact the Federal goverment gets more money from the member teams because the NFL is tax exempt than they would if it werent.

if it was a for profit corporation, then the shareholders would get to deduct their portion of the losses and the NFL has been working with lossess every year.
