WE all have faults. You want perfection? She was a leader in challenging laws and in this context of this thread that is what she did. Let's stay on point....shall we?
You brought her up as some paragon of nursing virtue. She thought black people were inferior. Being half black, yeah, I take exception to her. I rebutted your 'example'. That IS staying on point.
Remember, Dr. Brantly tested negative - twice - before his positive test results. Her testing negative is no guarantee that she doesn't have Ebola.
I don't think that's the point. I mean, it's the point for many people, but it's the risk of spreading infection that is the point of quarantine. Even if she tests positive next week for Ebola, she is self-monitoring, testing her temperature twice a day, and following the WHO guidelines which have not yet failed us in the case of returning healthcare workers. She's not contagious now, and if she should come down with Ebola, her self-monitoring would catch the infection before she starts shedding virus. So she poses no risk at this time, and quarantining her while she poses no risk is not logical or even legal.

I was simply pointing out that testing negative for Ebola early in the incubation period is no guarantee she doesn't have Ebola. I know you have talked about misconceptions of the public quite a bit and that's one I've seen touted as an absolute that she doesn't have Ebola in various places. It's a misconception.
Margaret Sanger shared the majority view of her time regarding black people. She was a product of her time, who believed medicine had a responsibility to address social ills as well as physical ailments. Naturally we don't agree with all of her views. She's from a bygone era. I'm sure if we studied Clara Barton she would have cultural and social views that we wouldn't agree with. Sanger's advocacy for birth control was very brave, especially in light of the public backlash against her.

You may be correct however the "testing" was conducted in Africa and dubious? I cannot say for sure. I hope for her sake that she does not contract it. My understanding is that if you have had contact with the virus then you develop antibodies quickly. That's the way antibodies work.

i can't imagine putting up with the doctors of those times. Out of 33 only 4 graduated. Must have been very harsh but her own struggles yielded fruit. Nurses are brave, dedicated and contrary. When you see what we see, little scares us.
Don't we know this?
