Maybe someone can explain this to me....

Take the school shooting that happened near Seattle yesterday...... Apparently this was over a girl and the victims were specifically targeted..... Now, had this happened in someone's yard, or on a street corner, it might have got a 30 second spot on the local news and that would have been the end of it. The vast majority of us would probably never have known it even happened...... But, since it took place on school grounds, during school hours, suddenly it's a huge national news story!!!!!

????? That's NUTS!

Why would the story have been any less important if it took place off of school grounds? Why is it that we would have cared less about the victims if it hadn't happened on school grounds?

Now I know that there are going to be some who'll argue that because it happened at a school, the Liberal media can use it to push an agenda, and I agree with that, but that implies that if it happens off of school grounds it's less of a tragedy and can't be used, so why is that?

One reason might be that school shooting are much more rare. Yes, when they do happen they get a lot of attention. The tragedy may be perceived to be greater because most people want the kids in school learning and yet it is the one place that they spend the most time not under parental control.

Because their children spending time on school grounds is something all parents have in common, other situations not so much.

News is a business, and school murder sells!

Last year a kid brought a gun to Gardena High in his backpack, our local HS. Somehow he dropped the backpack; the gun went off, and slightly wounded a student. From my backyard, I watched a 1/2 dozen news choppers converge on the scene. Within minutes, it was on every channel. Local programs were interrupted.

There was no massacre, but they (media) sure hoped there would be!

Not just liberal...

Watch the conservative media play to their audience and push for teacher carry laws with this incident.

The Limbaughs of this world have to keep up their audience share or lose markets. Nothing sells like sensationalism.

Because when it was transpiring, no one knew yet that it was personal rather than random, e.g. another Columbine.
Now that it's known, it won't be on the news as much.
