Will they also want to unionize?

Flipping burgers, however, can be an opportunity for robots to work at it better than humans, thanks to a company that calls themselves Momentum Machines, this particular robot hopes to change the way the fast food industry works, and it might even see some line cooks out of a job eventually.

And now: The burger-flipping robot

Automation is more than just a threat to minimum wage/low skill jobs. Hope your kids aren't going to school to be an accountant, pharmacist, or a doctor. High skilled jobs are at risk too.

Automation always replaces the lowest hanging fruit first. In fact, look at how robotics have replaced skilled painters and welders in the automotive industry. When minimum wages rise above the cost of implementation and maintenance (ROI), kiss those low paying jobs good-bye. The beauty about it... machines don't strike, take breaks, or make demands.

No; but 15 dollars makes investing in robots for simpler jobs much more attractive. They can work 24 hrs a day with only maintenance needed .But its not just robots but mechanical devices replacing humans with less error and less problems. Saw a show the other day on a factory in Japan that is fully automated. Runs 24 hrs a day in dark building with only a mainteance person.

Only when they become sentient, but by then, we'll have bigger problems.

Very true, there are working robots that deliver medications to the units in some hospitals now. That job used to go to a "runner" who earned a paycheck and benefits, allowing them to be a productive person in society.

Some buffoon who quit the 10th grade and is barely literate harboring 5 kids from different women/dads is NOT worth that much.

They don't even say thank you when they chuck (er THROW) your change and receipt into your hand.
I have never had that experience with McDonalds staff but am not surprised at your utter contempt for low wage workers.
