Do as you wish, man! I was only asking why so many people vote against their own best interest. It has to be either fear or stupidity. My guess is it's both.

I vote according to principle, not according to self-interest. I wish that others would do the same.

I will never vote for a Democrat because they don't respect my tax dollars or my hard work. Pretty simple.

That assumes you know my interests and what is best for me. You don't.

Neither of the two parties really have our best interests in mind. One side thinks it's fine to never raise the min. wage & is fine with huge wealth & income inequalities. The other side thinks it's fine to let anyone who can cross our borders to come on in & depress wages for everyone. Both are guilty of Free Trade agreements that ship jobs overseas.

Independent or libertarian parties seem way more appealing but the two main parties just have a stranglehold on everything. The powers that be aren't ever going to let a third party in the door because they would not be their lackeys.

It is astounding how quickly people start with the ME ME ME mentality? I am talking about the red-state working class (and poor) people who vote Republican. If you fit into that category, then I can only assume you're either afraid or too stupid to know what's good for you. If you don't fit the bill, fine. Their policies and idealogy work against what any intelligent, thinking person from the working class (or poor) would believe to be in their best interest: Good jobs, decent wages, 1st world healthcare, effective and properly funded schools, etc. Republicans are NOT for these things! Most people don't give a flying fig about the community as a whole---it's a ME ME ME mentality in this country.

and that mentality has led to the most successful experiment in democracy in all of world history, as well as the richest nation the world has ever known.

I agree, Democrats vote against their interests.

Look at Michigan.

Snyder has balanced a budget all 4 of his years after 30 straight years of deficits.

Snyder has made public pensions solvent after decades of corruption and fixed structural issues with it.

Snyder's plan for Detroit has dramatically improved their finances and has a 71% approval rating statewide and a majority approval rating inside Detroit.

Yet Democrats keep voting for the corrupt local politicians that graft the pensions and etc...

It is in their interest to have contributed to Snyder's reelection.

or ignorance of what you consider in someone elses best interest.

How does voting to take money from society, leave tens of trillions of dollars in debt, increasing welfare, poverty, pushing jobs everseas etc, benefit society?
