The thing is, in the old days (that would be pre-Obamacare) you could get a basic major medical plan cheap, well under $100 per month. It was very high deductible ($6k or so) and provided no "routine maintenance" as such. It was there for catastrophes; major life events that could financially ruin you. In other words, exactly what "insurance" should cover. The real crime of Obozocare is that it made these kinds of plans illegal. And now charges several times as much for plans with no better coverage. I hope someone is following the money and will let us know which of Obama's friends and campaign donors are getting rich these days.

Toyman- did that policy have an unlimited cap or say was it capped at $250,000 so if you have a devastating event you really had no coverage?

Our insurance we loved we could not longer have.......do to Obamacare.

So we went on the exchange.......and I thought I was doing something wrong.

We went to our insurance man and had him try.

I was correct........the system put us on Medicaid.

It is free.......I do not know how good it is......we have never used it.

Wow, that's great. Not even Obama in his boldest fibs about Ocare promised we'd pay nothing for insurance. Maybe you can tell him and everyone else what magic in Ocare reduced your premiums from $500/month to zero.

It is an individual plan that you can attach your family to. The cost is based on your income (as the private sector does, higher up the Management chain the higher the cost). So people need to tell their income as well as what their premium costs are.

The plan is not based on our income. This is the absolute cheapest plan that we could buy on the exchange without subsidies. Our old plan was a plan purchased directly from an insurance company.

Yes....income only.

So contractors that do not show a profit have "0" income.

The system does not consider assets.
