Make noise. And call the police. Domestic violence situations escalate quickly and can be very dangerous. I would never get into one. Now, if I saw a child being abused, I probably would be more likely to get directly involved.
My dad went out there to yell at this guy beating up his girlfriend, and I told my dad to stay inside and call the cops.
What should you do? Stay inside and call cops or go outside yell at them+call cops?

The first thing I would do is check to see if I am wearing a super-hero costume with a large 'S' on the front and then if not, dial 911 since there could be numerous reasons why the girlfriend could be getting beaten. I would hate to be the guy that ran to her rescue and then got shot by the angry boyfriend then find out he was beating her because she was cheating on him with other guys and using him for money and other related resources. Now thats not to say that if she was doing that - that she would deserve the beating, but I do have requirments that need to be met prior to endangering my life to protect a woman and would not risk trying to save her if she was being beaten because she was cheating on the guy.

What you SHOULD do and what I would actually do, is two different things. Probably should stay inside and call the cops. Me, I'm out the door and in the guy's face, and if they woke me, up...God help him.
I had this happen to me, On the sidewalk in front of my house a guy was slapping a women I yelled at them and both told me to mind my own business, only they used profanity to the extreme. I now stay out of it and just call the sheriff.
Video tape it and call the cops.
Then get out there and tell him to stop (yell from a distance that the cops are coming).
Actually, I take that back - I would want the cops to roll up on it actually happening.
