The only well known Christian left winger I can think of is Chris Hedges. I think Christianity is inherently a left wing religion, yet in America the Right has basically taken over it.
I have several friends who are Christians and vote for Democrats.
This is the case. They behave like traditional Christians and practice their religion on a daily basis without the need to force it down other people's throats. For them it's more about the teachings of Christ, than dominance.

Is this what Pelosi was doing while washing feet of illegals......forcing health care upon all of us without reading the WHOLE bill? Feinstein doesn't care if she destroys the whole world, as long as she (1 person) gets her way!
One thing I do know, liberals enjoy breaking the "laws of the land" and help people outside of America more than Americans.

Jesus was a wine drinking rabble-rouser who was considered dangerously progressive in his day. He advocated that people love one another without judgment. Remember "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"? I see no evidence that Jesus loved the warmongers (that's a right wing trait) or that he had any great love for the entrenched authority of his day.
Yes, it is absolutely possible to believe the basic messages of Christianity as relayed by Christ and be a Democrat. Seems like it is actually easier for the left because they don't have to twist all those principles to fit into their rightwing dogma.
Perhaps someday the fundamentalist Christians will actually decide to follow Christ, too. That would be refreshing.
