In his SOTU speech last night, BO mentioned something about 'ever try raising a family on minimum wage?' (or something to that effect)
To which I responded: "If you're only qualified to earn minimum wage, you shouldn't be having a family you're trying to feed"
Is that too harsh?
No. It's the truth. It is immoral to have children that you cannot afford to care for.
Neither me or my wife makes min wage but together we MIGHT break 25k this year. That's pathetic especially since both of us are skilled workers. Goes to show its the corporations not the people who are the problem. Oh and we are raising 3 kids and soon to be 4 on this. We live in a nice 3/2 home in a sub division and we both have vehicles,no car payments, etc...life is decent but one car broke down or one medical bill not covered by insurance can sink us.
It's not the corporations. It's you. Grow up and take responsibility for your life. If you and your wife are healthy it is very easy to make much much more than $25k.

We need to boost wages or do something to boost them.
I totally agree. The first step is to get the government out of wage setting. Government should have no control over wages. The second step is to reduce government regulation which will stimulate the economy and produce more jobs with higher wages.

Actually it is the corporations. Wages have not kept up with the prices of things and should be jacked up to 15$ an hour AT LEAST.If a company can pay some douche bag in a suit and tie millions a year it can afford to pay every worker at least 35k a year.

The head honchos still rake it in and all cost are passed to the consumer in the form of higher cost at time of purchase.

Unless consumers stop buying those products. Let the consumer decide what the prices should be set at, but they should be able to afford to make a living when working full time hours.

God how nieve can you get. Here honestly, bi-partisanship aside, if you want the truth? Take a look at corporations who have taken american jobs overseas to countries that have little or no government regulation on labor and see what its like. Alot look like sweat shops of past. Its nieve to believe that it wouldn't be any different here?
