De Blasio: Could be the Biggest Snowstorm to ever hit New York:

"This could be a storm the likes of which we have never seen before," New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio at a news conference Sunday.
Not counting the last ice age some 15,000 years ago. when glaciers two miles thick covered the city apparently for thousands of years.

Since then the Earth has very certainly warmed....

Well since he said "we have ever seen", I would assume we were not around during the last ice age. And by the way, they are saying it could very well be historic. for mush of eastern and southern New England.

It is cold were I am today so that must mean global warming isn't real. That God I am not in NYC, I don't miss the snow at all. Though we have been having an unseasonably warm and dry January.

Why is it if there is a major snowstorm people on the right use that isolated example as proof that global temperatures aren't rising? We are in an ice age right now :-P. The last glaciation ended about fifteen thousand years ago, but this is still part of an ice age. Global warming means global temperatures, not regional ones. Believe it or not just because the temperature rises doesn't mean snow isn't still going to hit sometimes. It's not a quick process and is something that we likely won't see the full effects of in our lifetime.

As I stated in the OP, I believe global warming is real and even provided an example of it.

Since when did Mayor Blasé become a meteorologist?

It is hard to tell on this site when it comes to global warming.

And why is a snowstorm, the likes of which have been passing through the Northeast for decades, political or controversial?

It isn't, just an excuse to write a thread about de Blasio.

He's just advising on what the meteorologists have been forecasting. This is very political and controversial. Not!
