Now. Now.

People in the USA want their cake and eat it too.

If you want to do a simple poll. Like BUU says there should be a "basic level of health care" for everyone.

You see. There can never be any agreement what's considered basic care. You want to kill off the private market. You want a socialized system.

Do you realize what you do if you kill off the private system. You get VA health care like system. You will get care under the VA system. But you got docs who have very little incentive to work harder or faster.

An orthopedic doc in the VA health system probably does no more than 2 knee replacements a day. 3 is pushing it. An orthopedic surgeon in the private system can do 6-7 knee replacements in a day.

He'll do then on Saturdays and Sunday's as well.

You don't get that if you kill off the private system.

And killing off the private systems isn't gojng to save healthcare. U.K., Germany, Canada. They are all struggling with an aging population with their UHC.

Not really.

Why not universal healthcare? People in the United States of America are not ready to be told that their loved one cannot receive heroic measures because they are considered a "goner".

Insurance companies already do that.

Medicare and state Medicaid are the predominant insurers. They do not ration healthcare.

Yes they do. My uncle had COPD. It got to the point where they cut off his oxygen and treatments. He had the option of living another couple weeks perhaps if he wanted to pay himself. He didn't. My cousin being a doctor explained the facts to him.

That is durable medical equipment. That is not life saving hospital care.

That's not true. If someone is terminally ill in a hospital before the 60 days expires a family member will get a call telling them the government wont be picking up the tab for someone who is dying. I am also sure people in their 80s and above are counseled about surgeries. Still we pay way too much for people in their last 60 days of life. Conservatives in the most part support these extra-ordinary measures to keep people alive at taxpayers expense.

You are mistaken. People with terminal conditions still receive lifesaving treatment such as dialysis to sustain life.

I've been in medicine 40 years and I've never seen oxygen denied any willing patient. There must some very unusual and/or extenuating circumstances with your uncle.
