Interesting point, and one that I agree with.

Because the issue deals with money, they have to let the House act first then vote on their bill.

I don't know why you say this, when every news story I read says that the ds are filibustering the bill because it *contains* clauses that would override obama's eo on immigration.

As nearly as I can tell, the bill would get enough ds to pass if the disputed provisions were removed, so they could be considered separately. If you have a cite that demonstrates otherwise, please share it.

Oh, I see, people don't understand the Constitution.
True.. Certainly not as well as you do. Thanks for pointing that out.

Excellent news. I wouldn't object at all to the anti-immigration portion being passed with a veto proof majority next.

I kinda debated that. I'm not fan of Obamas actions on immigration. So is the republicans bill a immigration bill, or a anti-immigration bill? I went with anti-immigration, but really I wasn't sure how to word it. Shrug.

Default Legal Immigration.

Separating this issue will bring the Executive order in to prospective. While continuing the operations of Homeland Security.

Our system may need some moderation, but the laws actually work and there is nothing wrong in telling people "No"

Immigration should be based on needs of the country, not the need for more labors. Frankly there is nothing wrong with aggressive deportation for not having the documents required for a visit to the United States. This simplifies the process and we get away from people calling for a special status.

The news reports I got today were:

That the GOP wanted the amnesty provision vote first and supposedly had the 60 votes needed to prevent filibuster.

The Dem leadership was demanding the stropped DHS bill get voted on first.

I got too busy at work to follow after that.
