Have you read the book of Timothy?

1 Timothy 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

1 Corinthians 14:34
Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.

When I was a realtor, with the exception of the Christ part, a Muslim husband told me basically the same thing when we were picking out a house. While the man made the final decision he put his wife and families interests above his own.

I eventually found them a new home builder. Here is how the process of picking out the options went.

Husband: What color carpet do you like?
Wife: I like the desert beige.
Husband: We want the desert beige.

Husband: What color paint do you like?
Wife: I like the sandstone.
Husband: We shall have the sandstone.

The conversation was the same for every other option.

When looking for a home the husband insisted that the dining room be a separate area so the men of the family could meet and confer on his daughter's (then 16) future spouse. His daughter told me "They will approve the man I choose." I highly suspect she is correct.

Any reason the man's wife couldn't talk to you directly about her preferences?
