When he dies, wrap the body in canvas and bury it in an unmarked grave on a pig farm, or cremate the body and scatter the ashes.
BUT, never, ever, mention his name again!
Of course being 18 does not make you an adult in every aspect of life. However, many many people join the Army at 17 (including me).
And that's fine. I'd say he was guilty as well. But I would not sentence him to death, for a number of reasons, among them he is still young and that I believe the death penalty is unethical.

No, because death is the easy way out for him. If I were in his shoes I would want the death penalty too. Being sentenced to a max security prison in solitary for the rest of your life is a very slow torture.

Who cares about "his religion". When he dies, he simply will cease to exist and not be able to hurt anyone ever again. An unmarked grave, cremation etc...bunch of hogwash.
Put him in a room with a bunch of exploding pressure cookers and call it a day!
