Blaming objects seems pretty hip now, huh.

It will be better for the nation as a whole if symbols of slavery such as the Confederate flag, and the American Taliban crowd is further marginalized. But the problem is that these hate mongers breed and pass on their offensive culture to their offspring (see the Oklahoma frat racists). Fortunately this population will continue to decrease.

There are those who have bigoted ways, but will sometimes hide them. While such practices will be marginalized, such practices will become more covert.

Default How are we still having conversations about moving past race when the Confederate flag still flies proudly?

You can take down a thousand flags but it doesn't change one racist. There will always be people who are racist and that will never change.

Sure, but we don't have to encourage them by making their symbols as prominent as possible, especially on public property.

Then maybe the better alternative is to stop being stupid and actually teach people the heritage and correct history of the flag, and about its TRUE meaning, not the racist crap the left wing wants to throw around.

Are you denying that the "true heritage" of that flag flown over the N.C. capital building before it was moved off to the side was kept there to protest the desegregation of the schools during the Civil Rights Movement? Do you deny the "true heritage" of that flag includes its adaption by the KKK and other White Supremacy hate groups as their icon symbol? Do you deny the "true heritage" of that flag represents a wish to hold onto slavery in the eyes of many/most people? Are you denying the "true heritage"of the flag represents a treasonous act against the United States of American? Putting that flag in the relics room, other museums and battleground memorials is where the flag's history can best be taught.

just because the Democratic KKK hijacked the flag, doesnt mean the historical purpose of the flag changes no more than "some peoples" opinion of the flag represents reality.

The "true heritage" of the flag, had a WHITE side where the US flag currently has red and white stripes, THAT flag would have been racist because the white are of THAT flat, indicated white supremacy.

That white area was removed FOR A REASON..

Many believe the USA flag holds a very similar meaning, hence why its burned so often.

Are you telling me we should let the stupid of society dictate our policies? Maybe you feel that way, but I feel education is a better alternative.

This is like the left caving in and claiming gay marriage shouldnt take place because some ignorant others believe its wrong. You'd never advocate that, would you?

If society wasn't willing to change policies and opinions we'd still believe the earth. Society is and has always been fluid. Like it or not, accept it or not, the meaning of that flag HAS changed over the past 100 years just like a lot of other things.

And surely you must acknowledge that in the south there wasn't an ounce of difference when it came to views on race between the Democrats and the Republicans back 50 to 100 years ago.

Who's symbol is it? I've seen people with that flag but I can't tell you they were a racist, the flag was a symbol of a confederate war memorial and that sure wasn't racist. That flag didn't make anyone a racist did it? That's not even the confederate flag.
