Federal law currently limits caliber to .50 inches. the Solothurn was 20 mm or approx. .78 caliber. There has been a lot of R&D re long range rifles since Ronnie Barrett put the .50 BMG back on the map. But .50 is an arbitrary limitation that should be lifted. This could benefit the military since the civilian market tends to provide the innovations that later wind up in the hands of the soldier.
Read John Ross much? I want one too. It may be time to feed the hogs.

Since the solution for everything is apparently "more guns", how about a mandantory carry law. Everyone over the age five must carry at all times.

How about a government program to buy guns for low income families?. Finally, aid to the poor the GOP could support!

Yet you're still here insulting the OP rather than discussing the topic.

Meanwhile, as a retired LAPD police officer, I would like to see nationwide CC with no permits needed. I would like to see suppressors available to anyone who wishes to use one.
Those are tremendously important issues, all else pales by comparison.

Do you also believe Cruz will be president, sounded rather apoplectic today with the SCOTUS rulings.

What does an anti gun nut know about enforcing the existing laws? Nothing.

I prefer to deal with REALITY.

The GOP is in trouble, and the obsession with gun rights is a losing argument. The Democratic President who succeeds the great President Obama will take care of this matter in a way that is best for our society. This usually means that whatever measures will be taken, Republicans are not going to be happy.

So basically this is your fancy way of saying, "We don't really want the laws enforced...it's just an excuse."
