Here's what you people can't grasp. All of these free or reduced services you love to mention? They are provided by......Planned Parenthood. Do you see what a disservice you people are doing trying to defund PP? You don't even see the irony, do you?

BS. County health departments, medical clinics, doctors' offices, and hospitals accept CHIP/Medicaid for the exact same contraceptive services. PP isn't even necessary.

As a female who used PP until my early to mid 20's, you're wrong. Sorry but if you never used something, that doesn't mean it's not needed.

"You people"?

I fully and actively have supported Planned Parenthood in their preventive care which includes annual exams, contraception, education, STD testing, etc. The reason why they offer reduced costs for exams, etc. is because they receive money from the state to help defer the cost to the patients. They certainly are not the only ones who receive this funding and pass the savings on to their patients.

With the passage of the ACA more women are able to get free annual exams as well as free birth control which negates some of the need for lower cost clinics. It also calls into question the need for the state to spend the same amount when access has been increased via tax dollars going to Medicaid.

I do think that Planned Parenthood may need to rethink their business model and separate the abortion clinics from their preventative care clinics and do so by making them completely separate entities. While I am pro-choice, abortion remains controversial (and I can definitely understand why) and I think that people do have the right to question tax dollars going to an organization that performs abortions.

All that said, I've given several examples of how people would be able to continue to receive affordable contraception with or without Planned Parenthood. I am not saying that we should eliminate or defund Planned Parenthood, just presenting facts regarding the topic.

I've used PP as well as county clinics in my lifetime. I actually preferred PP because they have a better model of care for annuals, imo. But it's just not true that they are the only place that offers care at a reduced rate.

Yes actually, you are. Why do you insist on decreasing the number of places that women can get access to free or reduced health care services simply because you don't "like" a place? That's juvenile, not to mention irresponsible. If you're against abortion, then you should be supporting having as much access to family planning services as possible. Period.

Why are taxpayers funding redundant and therefore unnecessary facilities? County health departments, medical clinics, doctors' offices, and hospitals accept CHIP/Medicaid for the exact same contraceptive services. PP isn't even necessary to provide contraception to the poor.
