Why is it a stupid or inappropriate question? OK, if it put her on the spot and she wants to try again later, that's cool. Maybe it was too deep and hard for her in that setting without notice.

But 50 posts into this thread, still nobody on the left can explain what Democrats and the left generally support that American socialists do not generally support. It appears that the American flavor of socialism and the Democratic party values on this subject are pretty much in full alignment. Hence the support for Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton's move towards that segment of the political spectrum.
Indeed I did. The (D)'s are supporting a system that hands a huge segment of the economy (health care) over to for profit companies. That's not how socialism works.

And as pretty much any of them will tell you, that is not what the vast majority of Democrats want. They want single payer. They want government run healthcare, just like Bernie Sanders does.

That's simply not true. They had the votes to do that but didn't. They voted to give our health care away to the insurance companies.

They did not have the votes to do that, or they would have done it.

In fact, a number of those "red state" Democrats leaned conservative to such an extent that they did not support the idea of government run healthcare. Since 2009, half of all the Democratic Senators who voted for Obamacare are no longer in the Senate.

Now the Democratic party is a lot more streamlined going into the 2016 elections, at least in terms of the number of elected officials nationwide. And those officials are much more left and much more openly enthusiastic about "Democratic Socialism" than their now vanquished red-state brothers were.

So, I really do not think socialized medicine - government run healthcare - is truly a difference between where Democrats currently are and where American socialism currently is. In fact, it appears that the Democratic party in its more current streamlined form is in fact the wrapper for American socialism.

They passed Obamacare without a single GOP vote. The reason they didn't pass single payer is becuase it wasn't what they wanted. You can get campaign kick backs from yourself.

There is no way to get campaign donations from yourself.

Exactly.

Too many in the press seem to be lap dogs and water carriers for one party or another. But hey, it gets you invited to all the cool parties and 1%'er social events in DC and NY.

Talk about squandering the intention of the First Amendment.

Matthews is a big Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals fan so he tends to lean left or socialist himself.
Maybe Obama wants Sally out of her chairwomen seat and gave Chris and MSNBC the green light to discredit her as head of the Socialist DemocRats Party...

"This whole socialism thing started when Obama was elected" You must be very young and didn't do well in History class in school.

You NEVER look at the "BIG" picture. You are too wrapped up in your hatred of anything you don't agree with.

Under OCare insurance companies will go broke. Then the dem "saviors" will rise up and get single payer which IS Socialism and has been their end game all along.

"That being said, it was a dumb question" People say this about a question when they don't understand and the subject is over their heads.
