It's not just that the US buys their oil, it's also that by a 1972 agreement, Saudis (and the UAE) sells their oil to the rest of the world only for US dollars. That means for any other nation to buy oil from the Saudi peninsula, they first have to buy US dollars to trade for it. Thus, the international value of the US dollar is propped up by the sale of Saudi oil, which is even more important now than it was in 1972.

In return, the US has agreed to provide the Saudis with military protection. That is the reason the US rushed to the aid of Kuwait when it was invaded by Iraq--it looked like Iraq would roll on through Kuwait into Saudi Arabia.

Hmm, I didn't know this........interesting, now we see why we hear nothing about the Saudis.

I think the USA needs to send them more $$$$$.

How many are put to death in the US? Electric? Gas? Firing squad? Hanging is still legal. It is funny how hypocritical we are in the US. If we DIDN'T have the death penalty in the US then we could say something about it. How many deaths in Texas a year alone?

For those of you in the the US, treason continues to be punishable by death, while seditious conspiracy commands a maximum penalty of twenty years imprisonment. Maybe you should know your own laws before condemning someone else's.

The US had executed six people in its entire history for treason, and it's unlikely any more will ever be executed.

But the US still has excessively long prison sentences.

It is amazing what the US does to people convicted of growing pot for their own use. I think plenty of us speak up against our government and its injustice.......just not many are listening. We still don't get killed for our opinion about the government.
