The nation has never been united, and it is not the PC camp that has polarized it. It is the "traditionalist conservatives" who have wanted things to stay exactly as they always have been that are dividing this country. You've got it backwards. Your camp wants to still be living in the 1950's when certain people "knew their place" and straight, white men were the sole arbiters of truth and liberty.
Which "traditionalist" ideals would you like to see still in effect? Segregated schools? Segregated neighborhoods? The right to call a grown man "boy"? The right to legally beat or rape your wife? How about the denial of "legitimate rape" if a woman is wearing the wrong kind of clothes? Would you like to be able to call your neighbor a ni--er or a fa--ot on the street with no repurcussions? All white juries convicting black men? Illegal divorce? Christianity enforced in public schools? No birth control?
Tell me, what line do you draw? What traditions are the only correct ones, and who made you the ones in charge of making other people silent? Why do you guys get to deny other people their civil rights and proclaim yourselves in the right?
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness weren't only guaranteed to you.
The reason we have so many people running around who are like this poster is because all those dirty hippies back in the 60s and 70s were not put down back then. Force should have been used against the anti American counter culture types then, and if that had been done we would not be dealing with all this PC today. I know that is all water under the bridge, but I look forward to a time when all this nonsense will be stood up to, when all these differences will be settled in this nation the old fashioned way; through civil war. After that occurs the weaker side will be eliminated and our nation can restore its values as the founding fathers inteneded them to be. All of this social progressive, socialist and self loathing nonsense will finally be removed from our culture. Until then we must endure more of their hippie commune mentality.
Saying Political Correctness is about treating people with respect is like saying "White Pride" means not being ashamed of being white.
It's bulls--t and you know it.
And it is not just hard Right "bigots" who are complaining about Political Correctness. A lot of comedians said they stopped playing at universities because the students are so easily offended and will sometimes even protest their act. I'm not even talking about ones that touch on sensitive topics like Bill Burr or rely on crude shock humor like Andrew Dice Clay or have un-PC outbursts against hecklers like Daniel Tosh. I am talking about Jerry Seinfeld. Yes, there are people out there who are offended by Jerry Seinfeld's act. A comedian who made his career about joking about airline food, waiting on line, and various other inoffensive topics is too edgy for today's college set.
Let that sink in.
Let it swish around in your brain.

"A sizable portion of today's college kids find Jerry Seinfeld to be offensive."
Not his TV show which did occasionally touch on topics like sex, race relations, swearing, and other topics that might offend. But his standup. Jerry Seinfeld is probably the only comedian who's television sitcom was far edgier than his standup. Jerry Seinfeld makes Ray Romano look like Doug Stanhope on the offensiveness scale.
Outside of religious fundamentalists can you think of anyone else so pathetic and humorless?

Anyone advocating for an actual civil war so that those who truly believe in equality of all Americans is no American to me. Your attitude is part of the problem and the division of the country, not mine.
It seems like they bring the "political correctness" argument into everything. If they're not whining that something somebody else said or did is "politically correct" then they're defending something offensive or stupid that they said or did with "I wasn't being politically correct". I have felt for a while now that to the right political correctness has become a go to argument that they trot out when they can't come up with a real one. Two from the Trump candidacy really stand out to me. The first being Trump's excuse that he insults women because he "doesn't have time to be politically correct" How the hell do you "not have time" to not insult people? The other was when his Iowa Co Chair, Tana Goertz, was on The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell and she said of John McCain took "the politically correct" route when he said that Obama isn't an Arab. So now it's "politically correct" to say that a person who isn't an Arab isn't an Arab??????????????????????????????????
The next time a Conservative complains about political correctness, just remind them of how butthurt they were over Obama's "bitter clingers" comment.

Political correctness is a vehicle used by bullies, to disparage, humiliate and destroy people's character, plain and simple.
The people in the PC movement take any simple, common or innocuous phrase, which have multiple meanings depending upon the context in which the person using it intends it to be applied, and the PC Nazis twist it, so that the very worst, most vile meaning is always assumed to be used in all circumstances.
I'm not "concerned with political correctness" I am opposed to bullying. I'm opposed to trumped up character assaults against innocent people. I'm opposed to creating a culture where the general public couches their words out of fear they will be unfairly attacked, and demonized by bullies.
There is no "PC movenment"
But as for taking the very worse most vile meaning the conservatives do that all the time. Us liberals advocate for gun control and you turn that into taking away all the guns and establishing a dictatorship. We promote the separation of church and state and you turn that into outlawing christianity
That is not a politically correct statement. That is just the fact of the matter. A politically correct (and thereby always incorrect) statement would be "Islam is a religion of peace."
