That will have to happen before people start giving up their guns.

Government 1st.

We're not stupid. We see how they behave now.

As far as Police Brutality being rampant, I'd say it takes place in a majority of cities. As far as Police Corruption, yes. It is rampant. And some of our laws enable that corruption to our Constitution and foundation as a country.

The real irony of this whole article is that I've been telling people for YEARS around here that Chicago operates by typically letting the bad areas be bad and coming down hard if it bleeds over into the good areas.

That it's much cheaper to blame guns and hold a peace march or two than to address the root causes of poverty, isolation from jobs, good education, diversion programs etc.

The guys complaining to the mayors office better not make too big of a stink or their DNC membership cards, their spouses city job or seat on a board....all can just disappear.

Stop rockin' the boat guys....sit down....in the back.....you don't call out the party or you get the back of the hand.

What's rampant are hoards of people who believe they are special snowflakes and laws they don't like don't apply to them. They have no respect for themselves or others, including Police Officers.

Average joe would not last a day dealing with the general public.

I find it ironic that many people think posting armed guards at every mall, movie theater, school and other public venue is going to be any better. We see the kind of mentality many with a uniform and a gun seem to adopt towards the rest of us. What makes anyone think armed guards posted in public places will be any different? There will just be more of them and they'll be everywhere.

The black caucus alderman are calling for the chief of Police's head. Alrighty then. You want law and order. Call in the National Guard, tanks and all. Armed soldiers on every block and alley. Impose a Sundown curfew unless you can prove your job requires you to be out. TS for the bars, clubs and liqueur stores. Stop every car after sun down. Good, law abiding people will be grateful. Those with gang affiliations, not so much.

Offer bounties to people to rat out the criminals in their neighborhoods and families Bonus points for illegal guns.

Every single school in Chicago is a good school. Some good students emerge from all schools despite the constant disruptions by their peer groups. What are those kids and families doing differently? Likely they are not out running the streets at midnight and serving as lookouts for gangs at age 6 while mama and her hopeful fantasies is busy with some guy without a brain.

The only thing about that is that if lots of people are congregating at a movie theater on a Friday or Saturday night, or at a mall on the weekend, maybe it's logical to put your police manpower where those people are congregating.

Again... many cites are not in any county at all and have no sheriff above them whatsoever.
And sheriffs cannot enforce _any_ municipal ordinances; it has nothing to do with conflicting with the state.
(As an example, a Sheriff cannot enforce a municipal speed limit anywhere inside a municipality on a residential street. Only on a county or state maintained road. They can write a state speed law ticket on a residential street, but that is normally a very high number. e.g. for Missouri you would have to be going over 60 mph on a residential street before you could be written up for a state speed law violation. Anything lower than 60 is municipal ordinance only.)
